Morning departure by the 4×4 car from your hotel inOuarzazate to the Dades gorges and Todra gorges, passing the oasis of Skoura, where numerous ancient kasbahs, some sadly in ruins, stand amongst the palm trees. From here, our route takes us through Kela’a M’gouna, thevalley of the roses, where we stop to have a berber tea. Later, we drive off-road along the road of a thousand kasbahs to the Dades gorgesfor lunch. If anyone would like to, it can gladly be arranged to share lunch with a berber family. After lunch, there is time for a walk alongside theBoumalne Dades valleybefore continuing to theTodra gorges for the night in a guest house.
After breakfast, there is time to walk by the Tinghir palm grove before driving to thedunes of Merzouga via the ziz valley, the oasis of Tafilaletand arrive in Erfoud in time for lunch. In the afternoon, we continue our trip to the dunes of Merzouga in time for a two-hour camel ride in thesahara desert. The sunsetfrom the top of the Erg Chebbi dunes is spectacular (250m) and afterwards there is dinner and the night in anomad tent.
The return to the hostel inMerzouga for having a shower is on camel back and, after having breakfast, we drive by the 4×4 to the Dra’a valley and Ouarzazatepassing by the villages ofRissani, Alnif, Tazzarine (now appearing in the film of ‘Babel’) and N’Qob where we stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we drive off-roadalong the Draa valley and theancient road of caravanssurrounded by palm trees and full of ancient kasbahs such as the most well-known one ofTamnougalte. We rejoin the paved road in Agdez and reach Ouarzazate at the end of the day, crossing the Anti-Atlas and the mountain pass of Tizi-n-Tinfifite (1660m).
